June Chapter Meeting – Stop The Bleed & Community First Aid
As a safety professional, you probably know very well you can’t be everywhere all at once, despite senior management’s best wishes.
Empowering those around you to respond well when things go sideways plays an important role in protecting workers from further harm. A few years ago, we got to learn from Kristi Repp about LV Metro PD’s efforts to empower community-based incident response in mass casualty events.
Along those lines, our June meeting will highlight the Stop The Bleed campaign and other community first aid resources. We’ll be joined by Yvonne Ramos, BSN, RN, who serves as the Trauma Outreach and Injury Prevention Program Coordinator at University Medical Center.
Yvonne’s virtual presentation will familiarize attendees with the content of the Stop The Bleed course, with encouragement to take an in-person class to learn and practice the hands-on skills. She will also promote other learning opportunities available through UMC and around the community to connect potential Good Samaritans with the knowledge and training to empower them to act when lives are on the line.
As with all our technical meetings, this meeting will be online-only. Stay tuned on our Events page for the upcoming mixers and site tours that provide in-person gathering opportunities.
Technical meetings are always open to non-members as well as members.
Attendees can receive the join link for our Google Meet room by completing the free Virtual Attendance registration below (which helps us with Society-required program reporting). However, members will also receive the same link in their monthly email newsletters. Registration is not required, but is appreciated.
