153rd Airlift Wing Hosts Rocky Mountain Chapter ASSP

Posted: Mar 02, 2020

In October 2019, the 153rd Airlift Wing, Wyoming Air National Guard hosted the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals for a “lunch and learn.”  Senior Master Sergeant Brad Mercil, safety superintendent for the 153d Airlift Wing and secretary for the Rocky Mountain Chapter, discussed his role in safeguarding Airmen, protecting resources, and preserving combat readiness.

Senior Master Sergeant Mercil discussed the three safety disciplines he oversees, which include occupational safety, flight safety and weapons/explosive safety.  In addition, Senior Master Sergeant Mercil discussed the various safety programs he manages which include the Air Force Safety Management System (AFSMS), facility inspections and program assessments, mishap response and investigation, risk management, and hazard reporting and abatement.

Following the discussion, attendees were able to tour a C-130H Hercules cargo aircraft and have additional discussions with aircraft maintainers, flight engineers, and loadmasters.

Welcome to New Region II Leadership

Posted: Jul 16, 2019

It’s a New Year for Region Leadership

What an incredible 5 years it has been.  I wanted to say thanks, introduce and welcome on our leaders.

Although the 3 year roll off just occurred, we lost Vicki Allen-Buglisi who was the Awards and Honors chair for the past 3 years. She served our region honorably! Ryan Oughterson has now accepted this position for the next 3 years.

As Susie’s term ended for Secretary, she will now be the ARVP Finance (Treasurer). Since Susie has moved on, Lea Duffin has accepted the position as ARVP Secretary.

You guessed it, since Lea has moved on, Jerry Salgado has accepted the position as ARVP Professional Affairs.

Some of you may remember Ryan Briggs really wanted to volunteer and will now be the Co-Chair of ARVP Professional Development with Jeff Citrone.

So let’s give a great big welcome to our new Region II Leaders!  Welcome aboard!

  • Tim Paige-Bottorff, Regional Vice President for Region II
