Join us and Natalie Rolle, MOT, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist and Expert in Chronic Insomnia Treatments for a presentation on “Sleep Health, Shiftwork and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Industry”.
Sleep is the third pillar of health, and many would argue really it is the platform that we build the other pillars of health on, because without sleep, we know those other pillars break down. We can’t reap the full benefits of our good diet/exercise if we aren’t sleeping well. We also cannot be as safe at work or in life as we would be if we were getting a better quality and more appropriate quantity of sleep. This presentation is about the most up to date science on why sleep is important, costs of not getting enough or quality sleep, our sleep systems and how they work, as well as goals people can work on to attain better sleep whether they are on shift work or not.
At the conclusion of the course the participant will:
1. Describe the importance of understanding the physiology of sleep in changing sleep behaviors and understanding why sleep is so essential to safety.
2. Describe why sleep is considered the 3rd pillar of health and identify three different ways sleep contributes to safety in some way. 3. Describe tips and tricks that help all sleepers and shift workers to attain better quality sleep and more optimal functioning.
